Teddy Bear Collectible Accessories - Add a Theme to Your Hug Displays

Teddy Bear Collectible Accessories - Dress Up your Teddy or Add Interest to Your Hug Displays!

Hug = a collection of Teddy Bears

Arctophile = a Teddy Bear Collector

To help pose your Teddy Bears in your Hug, look for Accessories to add interest to your displays!

Antique or Victorian Silver Baby Teethers or Rattles are a popular addition to an Arctophile's Hug.  Most are sterling silver and feature bells, Mother of Pearl, lucite, rattles and whistles and some have a little jeweler's loop so that you can suspend the teether around your bear's neck on a ribbon or cord.

Victorian Pair of Sterling Silver Whistle Rattles with Mother of Pearl Teether Bars and tiny embossed bells (right).
Miniature pieces of furniture are a fun way to seat, or "occupy" your bears.

A doll's vintage wooden high chair. Refinish or leave in it's original rustic condition to complement your vintage Teddy Bear.

This old pale blonde mohair plush Teddy is enjoying the view from his high perch.

Teddy may want something to play with while he is sitting in his high chair. Some handmade toy wooden blocks are just the thing for this one-eared vintage orange mohair Teddy. He loves the old black and white photographs of children with their teddy friends!
Maybe the blocks have letters and can spell out a message to show off your Teddy!  How about a vintage red enameled wooden Steiff display chair along with alphabet blocks that spell out "STEIFF"!

Collecting does not have to be limited to Teddy Bears! Look at this vintage Steiff dog collection, accessorized with a steel Steiff Logo feeding dish for them to share, along with some Toy Blocks!

Miniature toy blocks strung with old jingle bells can make a fine necklace to identify your Teddy (or dog above) with letters, or add some fun with old photographs or antique toy pictures.

J.K. Farnell Alpha Teddy Bear wears his block necklace spelling out "FARNELL".

Put a row of toy blocks on the shelf of your display cabinet to add some eye appeal!

Vintage or eclectic jewellery items can add appeal to your Teddy Bears. Here are the Koala Twins, made by a local Teddy Bear Artist, and one wears a vintage African Ivory necklace and the other a modern blue stone heart and wooden beaded necklace.

A fun Steiff display accessory is this Dream Band, made just the right size for your miniature Steiff Teddy collection to try out their musical talents!

The Dream Band display was a window dressing item constructed especially for an FAO Schwarz Toy Store to show off their miniatures.  Steiff did produce a retail Millennium Band display complete with Teddy members as a limited edition in 2000, very similar to this Dream Band set up.  Watch for special Steiff Club Member issues for other special displays available for limited purchase!

The Steiff Club House, also sized for miniature Teddy Bears. It was an exclusive Club issue in the 1990s.

Be imaginative! This little wooden box display cabinet is actually a vintage sewing box! Great for miniatures, or Teddy Bear collectible accessories such as badges and jewellery!

Clothing is another way to personalize your Teddy, whether vintage, hand knit, or cherished baby items, a piece of clothing can cover and protect any balding spots on poor old Ted or give him a little stylish flair!

If your Teddy needs a little extra fur, a fun synthetic plush doll coat in warm caramel with white trim could be just right! No labels, c1960s, possibly a handcrafted piece.

A Victorian velvet infant's coat, hand sewn, with a stylish seersucker striped suit lining, will keep Ted warm and allows you to display antique clothing pieces rather than keeping them hidden away folded in tissue so no one can appreciate their fragile beauty!

This Pedigree Mohair Teddy Bear loves to wear his fancy Antique coat.

A vintage orange mohair plush Teddy Bear, unknown maker, with restored paw pads and missing one ear; feels like a brand new little bear cub again in his knitted overall play shorts!

Or does Teddy want to attend a tea party in her knitted (infant) frock?

Feeling a little mellow, this vintage Teddy dons some colourful shades to be prepared for summer! Just the right size for medium-sized bears, these doll glasses add some amusement to your collection's display. He is an unidentified Teddy Bear with replaced ears, which are not a terribly good match to his mohair colouring but makes him unique and quite lovable.

Build-a-Bear Warehouse makes modern outfits to fit Teddy Bears, and can be a fun way to cover up balding spots, especially if your Teddy has plump arms that doll clothing or baby clothing may not accommodate.

Build-a-Bear Shoes generally fit a round-footed Teddy Bear rather than the slender feet some vintage Teddy Bear's have, but infant shoes or socks can help out a Teddy who's pads may be worn or showing his stuffing and will prevent further loss or damage.

Perhaps for yourself AND that special Teddy, a pair of matching sheer teddy bear scarves, one in russet and one in navy.
Not all Teddy Bears are soft and cuddly!  Here is a gorgeous gold tone and cobalt blue enamel Cheeky Teddy Bear Trinket Jewellery Box which comes with a tiny miniature Cheeky blue enamel pendant necklace inside!

The necklace can be worn by you or one of your Teddy Bears! This fellow will add a sumptuous glitter of "bling" to your Hug's display!

A special Limited Edition No 1 of only 100 issued by Merrythought Teddy Bears, England, the information embossed on a golden panel on his tush.

The holidays is another time for adding a little something special in amongst your Teddy Bear Hug display, or add Teddy Bear warmth throughout your house (and Christmas tree).

Issued by Goebel for Hermann Spielwaren Germany, a hand blown glass Christmas Tree ornament Bear!

The Bearingers Victorian Family Collection, Keepsake Christmas Ornaments by Hallmark. "Mama" and "Abearnathy" 1993.

Made by Goebel, West Germany for special purchase by Steiff Club Members, some fine porcelain display pieces, decorated with Teddy Bears!  A watering can and a marmalade pot c1970s to 1980s.

Add a cute piece of original art with its own rustic frame painted with "Teddies" on all sides, in amongst your Teddy Bears, or hang on the wall above.....

.....or a teddy bear wall display plate if you prefer ceramics! This one is by Hallmark, designed by Mary Hamilton.

Penny, an early c1908 Bing Germany Teddy Bear.

Some antique or vintage Teddy Bears have possessions that identify them and they must be kept with their old accessories to retain provenance. Penny has her old English boxed penny, dated 1908 (presumably given WITH Penny the bear on her original gifting date!) and her button badge "A Penny for Your Thoughts", an old advertising promo that fit her to a "T".

Have fun with your Hug displays, and experiment with different items and different looks, to change with the seasons or your moods, or by what new Teddy Bear accessory collectibles that you find!

Some of the items shown above are from my personal collection to demonstrate what you can do with your Hug, but please check at Mandicrafts to see many I do have listed for your perusal!
