Berg Spielwaren Tiere mit Herz GmbH Austria - Collectible Vintage Plush
Berg Austria began in 1946 by the Broschek family, making teddy bears from old surplus army blankets, uniforms and buttons at their farmhouse near Fieberbrunn in the province of Tyrol. Berg was derived from grandma's maiden name Berger.

Soon, other materials became available. In 1957 their new trademark was developed, the heart pendant (Animals with Heart - Tiere mit Herz), red enamel on brass, engraved on reverse.

In the early 1950s a simple woven cloth ear or foot tag was used, printed with Berg. In 1957 Berg built a new factory in Admont.
Voice boxes were made from a small box filled with tiny stones.
In the late 1960s Berg began making Limited Edition and Replica Bears and Animals from older designs.
Miniature teddy bears, each with their own wooden boxes with the painted heart logo.

Early heart tags were heavier and the Berg name in italic script attached with a thread. Later the hearts were attached with a plastic attachment.

Later, items also included a paper tag sewn into a seam with a catalogue number.

Early Teddy Bears had a fabric seam tag printed with Made in Austria and fabric content info under Teddy's arm, printed in green and brown. They also had a green plastic button fixed onto their chest and a cardboard chest tag with silver metal surround.

In 1995 Berg became part of the German Company Bauer-Spielwaren.
