Hoselton: Sculptures in Aluminum - Third in Series of Canadiana Collectibles
We are taking a bit of a side trip from Canadian Art Pottery to visit a beautiful line of Cast Aluminum Sculptures. "Liquid Art in Solid Aluminum".
Hoselton Studios has brought their unique hand-cast aluminum art to the world for more than 20 years. A family business, now in its third generation, Hoselton Studios is located in the rolling hills of Northumberland County, Ontario, Canada.
An original image is carved, a sand-cast mold is created and liquid aluminum, heated to 1200F is poured into the mold and allowed to cool. Each sculpture goes through at least three hand polishing steps, lending each piece the renowned soft, lustrous, non-tarnish, carefree finish that typifies a Hoselton. Due to the hand finishing steps, no two sculptures are exactly alike. Each piece is individually signed and numbered. The sculptures created, made and signed by Gord Hoselton himself, founder and artist, are especially prized in the collecting world.
Hoselton Studios is open to the public. Here is a link to the Hoselton website for more information. http://www.hoseltons.com/home.htm
Wildlife is a favourite subject for Hoselton Sculptures. Many are mounted on rough stones of native quarried marble.

Lovely objets d'art. Insightful commentary. I had not seen these before and appreciate the information.
ReplyDeleteIt is very hard to deal with this company. I wonder how they stay in business these days. In my opinion the staff has a very bad and rude attitude with public and clients
